Lia Mara, who is known
as the gentle, the wise, is less favored than her sister, Princess Nolla Verin.
Klaris Lauren, the Queen of Shyl Shallow, casts Lia aside because she lacks the
ruthlessness to rule with an iron fist. Held prisoner in her room, Lia gazes through
her lattice window contemplating the future of her country, which seems
destined to be led by Prince Grey and Nolla Verin. Lia reminisces his gentle
touch on her lips and his physical form next to hers. But duty must take precedence
over her heart’s deepest desire. To Grey, Lia Mara is brave; he values her and
sees through her gentleness to her endless reserves of strength.
Grey, who is the unknown legitimate heir to the crown of Emberfall, is on the run. His once cursed brother, Prince Rhen, is about to lose his rule due to his countrymen’s revolts. Grey, who was Rhen’s general, faces a dilemma to turn against his brother, and is torn by his separation from Lia Mara. Klaris Lauren keeps pushing her agenda for his union with Nolla Verin. He does not wish to frustrate the favorable circumstances that he has with the Queen, but his affections are toward the true heiress, Princess Lia Mara. There are many interlocutors taking risks to challenge Rhen’s reign. What will be the outcome of the battle between brothers?
Brigid Kemmerer’s breathtaking saga is the second installment of the Cursebreakers trilogy series. Her characters embark on a journey of self-discovery and revelation in which their vulnerabilities are exposed. Her vivacious, eloquent style may evoke your innermost emotions as her masterful play on desires is inked on the pages of her novel, A Heart So Fierce And Broken. As a strong young-adult fantasy romance, it comprises 50 chapters plus an epilogue with a map illustration of Emberfall.
As a story that will leave your heart in jubilation and ecstasy, it is a more promising read than its predecessor, A Curse So Dark And Lonely. Written from a first-person perspective, the narrative juggles each chapter between Grey and Lia Mara. You may notice the poor editorial quality which is apparent through the constant mixed tenses and punctuation misuses. The plotline has a smooth flow, and a clean, uncomplicated use of language. Even though the narrative is predictable at times, Kemmerer manages to accelerate her readers’ curiosity with intense plot twists.
Lia Mara will intrigue you with her inner conflicts between what she wants and what is right. Kemmerer inflames her character’s emotions from despair, trepidation, and befuddlement to unflinching, analytical, and righteous judgment. Speaking through her characters, the author bewitches you as they express who they are. Grey and Lia Mara's budding romantic relationship may be vicariously evocative of your most ardent admiration. Their chemistry is more realistic compared to their antagonists, Rhen and Harper, in the first installment.
This book reanimates the classical pairings of good versus bad, mortal versus immoral, and magic versus non-magic folk. Kemmerer personifies the good and evil use of magic through Grey and Lilith. They have a remote similarity to Merlin and Morgan le Fay as the embodiments of light and dark, and hope and despair. This traditional approach will incite your anticipation and voraciousness which can be satiated in its series finale, A Vow So Bold And Deadly.

I would love to read the book. It has an amazing story. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the book.
